Sunshine Coast Young People Launch Housing Association

March 2026 · Sunshine Coast, QLD

Young People Housing Association Inc.. YPHA, has been formally incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (QLD), making the Sunshine Coast home to the first young-people-led housing advocacy body of its kind in regional Australia.

YPHA is built on a simple premise: the people most locked out of home ownership should be the ones doing the advocating. The organisation is member-led, with every major decision, from advocacy priorities to brand identity, voted on by its 79 founding members.

"I have grandsons in Sydney and I just believe that they'll never own a house. In this great country of ours, we are forsaking our young generation."Geoff Clarke, YPHA President

YPHA's first-year priorities include a formal submission to Sunshine Coast Council on small-lot housing reform, a community-led modular housing concept paper, and a pre-election forum putting candidates on record about housing.
